Ezze Bar

A small techno haven situated on RCA claims to focus on their musical selection more than their marketing, buying all the latest techno hits for the die hard fans. The club has one main dance floor directly in front, a small room in the back with sofas, and an upstairs room with another couch overlooking the dance floor. On weekends, expect about 50 techno lovers and some kick ass cocktails. The Moon Shadow, for example, will pretty much wipe anyone out for 500 baht. If you are into small techno joints and strong drinks, this place is definitely worth a visit. Beer 150 baht Spirits (shots) 100 baht Cocktails 180 - 250 baht.

Ezze Bar
Open Daily 22:00 - 02:00
Address: Royal City Avenue, RCA, Bangkok

Cafe Democ

Cafe Democ is café-by-day with mainly tourist customers and an electronic music-
oriented bar at night with a majority Thai crowd. This two-storey graffiti-covered, retro antique-scattered venue is one of the few joints where decent tunes can be heard by DJs from Wednesday to Sunday nights. But Café Democ is unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) a little out of Khao San Rd ., so it can fail to secure the crowds other, less worthy, venues attract. Although it won’t burn a hole in your wallet and the food is actually quite good – try the fish’n’chips for your Britannia fix. Cocktails are 130 baht, buckets from 280 – 350 or a Heineken for 90 baht. Every night hosts a different musical genre with different DJs (Thai and some international) so keep an eye out for their program.

Syn Bar

Boasting itself as the “new home of indulgence in Bangkok”, Syn Bar could very well live up to its claims…if so many other hi-so bars in Bangkok didn’t have similar aspirations. Grey hues coupled with suspended pod-like seats in wrap-around windows, this cocktail lounge designed by Calvin Teo is undoubtedly stylish and of course pricey. Swedish mixologist Ben Sorum heads the bar team to come up with some unusual Asian-inspired concoctions like Tamarind Passion, Mangosteen Martini, and Wasabi Mary. Djs play every night from 9pm, a mixture of house, funky house and “jazzy hip hop house”, and for something different soul house!

Hu`u - Bar cum Restaurant

The odd name is a franchise from Singapore. A bar and restaurant
with a very dark ambiance, the highlight is the person you are with, the food/drinks that is on the table, or the large liquor showcase hanging from the ceiling. On Fridays there is P.O.R.N.

Pure Orgasmic Rhythms Night where you can dance the night away with modern jazz rhythms.
The drink menu is very thick and large some drinks are only offered here. Try the Cookie Monster and the Cheesecaketini. If you are looking for something strong try the long island ice tea, it’s one of the strongest in town.

It is the place where the beautiful people in bangkok like to be,and to be seen. You will find a lot of space, thai style couches and small tables. The upper floor is entirely dedicated to the restaurant, dining seats, and a wall of glass that protects the restaurant's guests from the music coming from downstairs but allows them to enjoy a great view on the lounge bar. DJ's play proper nu-jazz and chill-out tunes, making it a great place for a pre-club tipple,or to impress your date or business client.

Glaz Bar

Whether you are looking for a place to sit and relax in the evening before heading home or a place to discuss businesses during the day, the Glaz Bar at Plaza Athenee Bangkok can be an ideal place. Overlooking the bustling wireless road, they offers cozy seats and great music in the evening. The bar does not only serve you drinks but it also offers tapas for those who crave for appetizer before their meal or light snacks at night. However, tapas here is not Spanish influenced that offers olives and cheeses like we generally think of tapas.

Bacchus Wine Bar

Named after the Greek god of wine, Bacchus fittingly houses a
huge wine collection at equally substantial prices. This 4-floor venue with urban concrete, glass, brick and lounge décor is yet another stylish addition to Bangkok’s eatery landscape. The top floor is especially cool with a white chill-out reclining lounge Bed style. Silk Bar DJs play chilled house and lounge tunes on Friday and Saturday nights while an evidently wealthy foreign clientele dine on decent Italian-influenced food (with a few Japanese dishes). Cocktails 180–220 baht, spirits 160 baht, wines 1,000-29,000 baht (bottle), and main dishes cost around 190–490 baht {Italian}

"Really nice and decent place to eat and drink. Also good to invite business contacts. Not an excessive party place though...... "

Astro Bar

There is, in all honesty, nowhere else like Astro Bar in Bangkok. Owned by a fanatical collector of antique toys, model cars, Vespa scooters and classic movie posters, entering Astro Bar feels like stepping into a vintage memorabilia shop in New York's East Village. Glass cases line the walls displaying a bizarre retro-futuristic array of toy robots, Bruce Lee action figures, vintage Star Wars and Ultraman posters and uncountable other groovy items. A '50s-era Wurlitzer jukebox loaded with Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley records lies behind a welcoming mesh of retro chairs and comfy sofas. It rarely - if ever - feels busy inside, but seems to always retain a warm atmosphere due to an over-abundance of eye candy. Drinks are cheap. If you live nearby, be sure to make this your local. If you don't, then it's worth taking a cab there to relax and feel at home... well, at least as if you're at someone else's home, with better taste.

"I wouldnt call astro bar dull.... its different and quite stylish. If you care only about where the most people go to right now then you might be better off somewhere else."

Distil Bar

Distil is a rooftop bar on top of the 63-story-high State Tower,
next to Sirocco, offering a good list of fine whiskeys, wines and cigars. It features a long illuminated bar, many big seats inside and a Bed Supperclub like couch on the remarkable terrace of which you have an excellent view down on the banks of Chao Phraya. The resident DJ is Serge C. (U.K), spinning mainly lounge and deep house.

"After a drink you may want to try a cocktail at the bar outside of Sirocco! Excellent views! Live jazz music. Don't forget to bring a lot of money, you'll spend it!"

Vertigo

Perched 61 floors above the city on the roof of the sultry Banyan Tree Hotel, Vertigo and its Moon Bar are tops for great views, less good for staying dry though, since it has no roof. A chic open-air lounge popular with the cocktail-drinking glamour set and Amex carrying ex-pats, the restaurant does good barbecued seafood and boasts some excellent signature dishes, such as Grilled Sea Bass with Citrus Salsa and Cilantro, but mostly you're here for the drink and scenery. Bangkok's cityscape, the winding Chao Praya river and the soccer ball sun sinking below the horizon are best enjoyed with a glass of fine Crystal, or wine and cocktails.

"The view is just amazing (a bit windy maybe) but in my opinion Vertigo is a 'must see'. It gives you a bit an idea how big this city really is and you start feeling pretty small. Drinks are good, though with the food they try a little bit too hard maybe, service is good, prices tend to go up a little over the years but that is what happens all over Asia lately"

The Balcony

New Silom Soi favourite with the usual outdoor seating to satisfy the voyeur in you all. Even better though is the inside lounge, with a long circular bar that has a throwback to Fifties Hollywood. We grant you the soft sofas are more 'Friends' than 'Frank' but it shouldn't stop you lighting up a cigar and sipping on a Jack. The balcony itself is one floor up with a fine aerial view of the soi, plus a karaoke lounge for potential revelry.

"Balcony is one of the better gay bars in Bangkok. The staff are friendly and polite, and cute. Beers reasonably priced, and food is ok."

Telephone Pub

Popular gay bar named for the telephones at each of the booths, which give you a hotline to whoever you fancy at the neighbouring table. Might sound cheesy but its cooler than you think, with a simple minimalist design that keeps scene locals and interested tourists more than happy. Split over two levels with several separate bars, it gets ultra loud at weekends but the crowd is relaxed and not too posey. We mostly like it for the jugs of powerful frozen margaritas and plates of tasty Thai snacks.

Speed

Another Silom Soi favourite, this one a hot spot for the local in-crowd who come to see and be seen at the outdoor tables. Inside it's split over three levels and more hectic, with weekend clubbers cramming in to bop and bounce to everything from house to hip-hop. But we say slow down, pull up an outside chair, breathe in Bangkok night air and make eye contact with whoever takes your fancy. Bar staff are big on spirits and cocktails which should supplement your courage.

Narcissus soi 23

A hip, classy, up-market club-bar located in an all-white building that resembles the villa of some Roman senator relocated to Siam. Ignore Pegasus, the exclusive hostess joint next door, and enters this vast, opulent sun palace with more bars, dance floors and spilt levels than you could shake a swizzle stick at. Music is of cutting-edge international club standard and the DJs doing duty have flown in from all corners of the globe. Sure, it's pricey and posey and your fellow Narcissists are rolling in the money, but wouldn't you want to pay more for drinks, snacks and a magazine-cover clientele like this?

"Music is good, layout is good, drinks priced fairly (although certainly not cheap). I think the 500 Baht door fee is actually a good idea – you get 3 drinks with that (more or less any drink – vodka red bull for example) so you would have spent the 500 Baht anyway, but the charge keeps the riff raff out – and keeps the crowd more in tune to a proper club rather than the flip-flop and shorts wearing wannabe back packer tourist crowd. Overall a good club, and a good night to be had – definitely a must visit spot on the BK"

Dali

Cool art-bar in the traveller-rich Khao San area although whether Salvador himself ever passed through here with a backpack we can't say. Small, relaxed, popular with locals and tourists, it's full of surreal wall hangings downstairs, comfy sofas, cushions and live music. We prefer it below, where the wide range of cocktails, spirits and beers in a cool, quiet setting is a welcome respite from the frantic tropical chaos outside.

"What can I say - truly awesome. I absolutely loved this place. What a chilled place! The owner is friendly and staff are great! You won't find much of this kind of bar in Bangkok. The owner is friendly and staff are great! Keep"

Bamboo Bar-Oriental

Resembling "a speakeasy in the jungle" according to one critic, the Oriental's Bamboo Bar is as much part of the city's landscape as the Khao San and Pat Pong Road - just with a load more class and sophistication. Legendary for its live jazz since 1946, it's a film noir type setting, a sort of Rick's Café of the Orient, and you half-expect Bogart to wander in with a babe on his arm. The skilled bartender has trained at Harry's Bar in Munich, and makes every spectacular cocktail from the Mai Tai to the martini. Décor is that jungle theme but you'll find leather sofas and plush chairs amongst all the bamboo and palm fronds. Comfortable, classy and sophisticated, make yours a double!

"Located in the most beautiful hotel in Bangkok, Bamboo Bar is definitely one of the best bars in Asia. It will appeal to real fans of expertise in mixology as well as to amateur drunkards in search for a romantic and chic place. Classics are made according to the tradition (the Best Martini in Asia!), and all creations are obviously the work of real serious old school bartenders. Superb. The staff is wonderful, discreet but friendly and the atmosphere (think film noir in the jungle) is perfect for a lovely evening with your favorite partner. To top it all, the live Jazz music is top notch."
